This plot book recaps events new people were not present for, so you can fill yourself in if you were absent.
Please keep reading if you're new.
On a patrol, StoneClan encounters a tom named Kite. They had only just moved in, and hadn't yet found out where the Tribe lived or anything of the sort. Naturally, they inquired about the tribe to the loner.
The loner, Kite, claimed to know nothing, and this proves to be a lie when he shows up beaten and blooded in StoneClan camp.
He explains (after waking up and being healed) to the clan that he wasn't supposed to talk to them at all, and that the Black Ravens thought he was telling them information so they beat and bloodied him then sent him to their lands with a message.
The message was "We're coming."
Kite remained with the clan and is now a warrior, but the message is still rattling through the clan's minds....
StarClan tells Nightgale and Ricketpaw that they must speak to not only them, but the clan as a whole. A gathering of sorts. She instructs them that in the new lands they've moved to, there is a sacred flower that blooms upon the grounds of what once was the burial grounds of the tribe of the Great Willow.
They visit the next full moon.
Rather than multiple spirits appearing, only one comes to them, and she is extremely faded and weak. It is Grace, one of the "higher" spirits of StarClan, a "virtue" as they call it.
The virtue tells the clan that they are failing at their task to help the Great Willowers. She essentially says Hickorystar and his warriors are not doing their job, that she's lucky to even have the strength to show up.
Grace explains that it's so important to save the tribe because StarClan's root of power comes from- they are basically the source of all clans, they are the place of origin, they are where all of our memories and history had come from. If they died, so would StarClan, as they share such a bond and link... That, and it's simply terrible that innocent cats must suffer like they are.
After explaining this, she finally says the most disheartening news of all; StarClan cannot give lives to the leaders, and they "can't ensure the health of kits."
Six of Hickorystar's lives have been taken away. The next leader will not have any.
As for the health of kits... Grace was supposed to be the spirit in charge of "deformity and stillborn prevention."
This means that the chances of stillborn, blind, or disabled kittens are now up, because they are not in StarClan's paws.
Does this also mean new kits will not have a connection with StarClan at all? And what about our future leaders?
The threat of the Ravens is now greater than ever before.
3. LEAF THAT DRIFTS FROM THE WILLOW
(gore warning)
As they often do every moon, the Ravens gather up a group of Willowers so that the Mother may pick out their future soldiers. Ravens of course think this is a great honor, to be working with them... the Willowers believe you're damned if you're picked.
Leaf, a young, fragile kitten is chosen. The Ravens believe she is the most impressionable, so of course they could form her into a good soldier. Right?
This theory is proven wrong when Leaf speaks up.
"I need to take care of my brother, he's a Willower too! I can't be a soldier. I'd rather die than be one of you."
The mother and her Ravens are surprised and angered at the kit's outburst. The Mother gets up from her perch. She pins the kit down and tells her to apologize and take it back.
Leaf refuses.
The Mother then says "If you want to act like a hero, you will die like a hero."
After having said this, she leans down and (given how tiny a kitten is in comparison to a hefty snow leopard) easily bites down around her little neck, then begins to pull.
After a moment or so (and crushing Leaf's skull in her jaws in the process) the Mother decapitates her, and tosses the kit's head away.
The Mother decapitated a kit in front of the kit's clan mates.
Please keep reading if you're new.
